Getting Started.

SportsLeader teams have a singular focus with players and coaches all striving to live and grow in virtue. Congratulations on your decision to run the SportsLeader program. Here's what you need to do:

How to Start a SportsLeader Team

  1. Determine how many athletes you will be working with. It is critical to have enough commitment cards for each of your players.
    • The Head Coach's Kit contains 15 commitment cards and the Assistant Coach's Kit contains 12 commitment cards. If you have between 15 and 27 players on your team you will need to purchase BOTH a Head Coach's Kit and an Assistant Coach's Kit, and so on.
    • For first year programs it is critical that every team purchase at least one Head Coach's Kit in order to receive the training DVD. In addition, we highly recommend that every coach who will be participating in the program have a kit for himself, so that he is able to read and learn the information contained in the Coach's Playbook.
    • For second year SportsLeader Coaches, renewal kits will be available at a discounted rate.

  2. Visit our Online Store and purchase a Coach's Kit and/or Assistant Coach's Kit(s).
    • Inside the Coach's Kit is everything you will need to effectively run the SportsLeader program for a sports season.
    • In the kit you will also receive various SportsLeader merchandise: athlete commitment cards and a Coach's Playbook. The Head Coach's Kit also includes a training DVD.
    • The key to your success as a SportsLeader Coach is found in the instructions inside your Kit. It is the truth about : what we're made of as humans, how we should act in the world, and what it means to be a real man.
    • Some of this is stuff you may already know on some level, but the basic truths of the human person are all laid out here in a way that will make it easy for you to remember, communicate in your own words to your team, and have an effective and lasting impact on your athletes.
