So many grown-ups think they have it ALL figured out!

I know I'm one of those grown-ups, guilty as charged! For, as a grown-up, 46 years young, I think I know what's best for me most of the time. Thankfully, God enters into my life, FREQUENTLY to remind me that I don't have all the answers!

He makes this manifest, NOT by HUMILIATING me, but instead by HUMBLING me by putting smarter, stronger, cooler people into my life. People who can teach me, instead of the other way around.

One of those teachers God has put into my life, recently, is John Kieffer. John and his business:

LMI-The Results Group

is in the business of helping leaders become better leaders. Not an easy task, by any means! Especially when you have students who often think they've already got it figured out (kind of like me!)

John emphasizing the power of choices!

John has helped me in so MANY ways! Things like:
-Achievement in the workplace motivates!
-The best goals are SMART goals.
-People communicate differently…. and that's OK!

One of the biggest things John tries to emphasize with his students is the power of choices. I've included one of his teaching materials below:

An Autobiography in Five Short Chapters

Chapter 1
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost.
I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out!

Chapter 2
I walk down the SAME street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I PRETEND I don't see it.
I fall in AGAIN!
I can't believe I am in the same place!
But it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out!

Chapter 3
I walk down the SAME street
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it there.
I STILL fall in!
It is a HABIT.
My eyes are OPEN.
I know where I am.
It is MY FAULT.
I get out immediately!

Chapter 4
I walk down the SAME street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk AROUND it.

…..And That Has Made ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

Chapter 5

One would hope it would be as simple as this.
But, LIFE is so much more complicated than this, NOBODY'S autobiography is as simple as this! There is pain and confusion and anguish and discouragement and loneliness, as well as joy and elation and triumph and celebration and honor... that accompanies YOURS AND MINE and EVERY journey.

There, also, are "CHARACTERS" that we meet along the way that HELP that journey. I am blessed that one of those characters in MY autobiography is John Kieffer!

Do yourself a favor and MAKE THE CHOICE to find somebody to help you with your autobiography today.

Better yet, be that character in somebody ELSE'S autobiography!
