Coach, This Will Help Your Marriage

Coaching is an awesome calling, a rewarding vocation, a passion, a love.

It can also be stressful, time-consuming, heartbreaking, and challenging ... possibly more for our spouse than for ourselves.

The thought that, "He (she) is choosing that sport over me" can creep in very easily.

What makes this all the more challenging is that these fears or thoughts more often than not do not get communicated during the season precisely because we are "too busy."

SportsLeader has a suggestion that has helped numerous couples grow stronger in their marriages.

We call it the Marriage Renewal Ceremony.

You can make this as simple or elaborate as you like.

The basic goal is to communicate your love, gratitude, admiration, respect and appreciation for your spouse.

Sure you can do this alone. That is fine too.

But we recommend that you do it together publicly with the other coaches & spouses on your team.

Some teams have done it at church, some at the home of a coach, some at a restaurant ... Some have made it around a meal, some coffee-dessert ...

Basic elements:

1. Have each coach stand up and publicly express their love and gratitude.
2. Renew your wedding vows via the below formula or other.

If getting up publicly and doing this is too challenging then maybe you can just do the renewal portion and then enjoy each other's company.
