I Could Really Use Some HOPE

All of us who've had the responsibility of leading a team should know a basic truth: LIFE IS HARD! Why is it then that so many times I hear the gripes and the grumblings, condemning the job, "Why O why, does it have to be so hard for MY TEAM!?"

I want to yell, "Come on people, why are we complaining so much, depressed so much, hopeless so much? After all, weren't we the ones that chose this life of "serving in the trenches" anyways. Didn't we know what we signed up for? Because if we are going to live in the trenches, we must accept the fact that this life is MEANT to be HARD!"

What too MANY of us forget is one of life's magical secrets: (*secret was the answer to last week's riddle, by the way!) there is and will always be HOPE.

HOPE sustains me in this life I've chosen. HOPE motivates me that my actions are for a purpose, a purpose bigger than me. HOPE saves me from despair, EVERY DAY, so I can work to save the very people I'm called to be in the trenches working for.

We are making a dent, people, trust me, we are making a dent. Don't believe me? Kevin Durant won the NBA MVP award a few days ago. In his 26 minute acceptance speech, he begins by thanking God, then his teammates, and lastly his mother. One cannot watch the video without thinking, there is HOPE for this world!

Want some more HOPE? Somebody loves you. That person (or if we are really blessed, THOSE people) could be your best friend, your brother, your sister, your coach, heck somebody you may not even know! They pull for you. They pray for you. They brag about you. They worry about you. Some days you are blessed enough to see it. Some days you aren't. But the love and HOPE is there. *Of course with Mother's Day being Sunday, we know who our biggest fan is and will always be! She definitely is pulling for you, praying for you, bragging about you, worrying about you….HOPING for you. Come on people, there IS hope!

Readers, KNOW THIS: Every day there are more and more of our teammates getting knocked out of the battle. It is a tragic reality but a reality, nonetheless. But this battle is NOT hopeless! We have so many people who have believed in us, that have prepared us for victory in this battle!

So, as for me, I will fight, I will love, I will encourage, I will endure and I will HOPE! And if nothing else, I can be a light to others, a light that can bring HOPE to my fellow brothers and sisters in the battle. I can show by my courageous, steadfast, sacrificial actions that I BELIEVE the HARD LIFE is WORTH IT!

My HOPE is you do the same.

My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.

More Than A Coach: SportsLeader!

Check out this recent legendary example (2011 in China) of a mother's love for her child below. Happy Mother's Day to all of you from SportsLeader!*

After the Earthquake had subsided, when the rescuers reached the ruins of a young woman’s house, they saw her dead body through the cracks. But her pose was somehow strange that she knelt on her knees like a person was worshiping; her body was leaning forward and her two hands were supporting an object. The collapsed house had crashed her back and her head.

With many difficulties, the leader of the rescuer team put his hand through a narrow gap on the wall to reach the woman’s body. He was hoping that this woman could still be alive. However, the cold and stiff body told him that she had passed away. He and the rest of the team left this house and went to search the next collapsed building.

For some reasons, the team leader was driven by a compelling force to go back to the ruin house of the dead woman. Again, he knelt down and used his hand through the narrow cracks to search the little space under the dead body.

Suddenly, he screamed, “A child! There is a child!”

The whole team worked together, carefully they removed the piles of ruined objects around the dead woman. There was a 3 months old little boy wrapped in a flowery blanket under his mother’s dead body, ALIVE! Obviously, the woman had made an ultimate sacrifice to save her son. When her house was falling, she used her body to make a cover to protect her son.

The medical doctor came quickly to examine the little boy. After he opened the blanket, he saw a cell phone inside. There was a text message on the screen, it said: ”Dear baby, if you can live, always remember that I love you.”
