A lot of people, when a guy scores a lot of goals, think, 'He's a great player', because a goal is very important, but a great player is a player who can do everything on the field. He can do assists, encourage his colleagues, give them confidence to go forward. It is someone who, when a team does not do well, becomes one of the leaders.

At SportsLeader, we are working with more and more coaches who lament that their players REFUSE to ENCOURAGE. There is no talking, no support, no "chatter", no looking into the eyes of teammates and urging them to success. There are just guys and girls, "playing", not loving as they play, going through the motions of REAL team.

All of us are asking this same question; Where is the SPIRIT!? Where are the players that love to push each other? Where are the players that are fierce enough to challenge teammates that don't want to go full speed? Where are the players that solve disagreements on the field, and leave it on the field? Where are the players that get us out of bed in the morning, praising God for being given the opportunity to do this thing called coaching? Indeed, where are the players?

Indeed, those players ARE on our teams. That elusive spirit we're all looking for is there, maybe deep, deep within but there nonetheless. But it's up to us coaches to do something about it; to bring it to the surface. It's our responsibility! As one SportsLeader coach recently said, "Either we are coaching it or we're allowing it to happen." Whichever one YOU are doing, coaches, the time is NOW to do something about it. AND we at SportsLeader want to help you do something about it! That is our purpose, to help coaches MAKE authentic TEAMS. For we KNOW what you are going through, we KNOW what life in the trenches feels like, we KNOW you want to do more for your players. We KNOW that some of you coaches are at the end of your rope.

Coaches, there ARE teams out there doing something about it. There are teams out there doing leadership training, staff development, and SPIRIT development with their teams. ARE YOU? In the past week SportsLeader has led three of these type of SPIRIT trainings with three local high schools in the Cincinnati area, Carlisle High School, Taylor High School and LaSalle High School. And we have even more planned throughout June, July and August. We CAN do something about our team's SPIRIT! We all CAN do something to get our players to CARE, to ENCOURAGE, to LOVE more.

The answers are out there. Of course, at SportsLeader we aren't that naive to think those answers will be easy to find. On the contrary, finding out solutions to difficult problems and then having the discipline and faith to accomplish them IS daunting. But we want to ENCOURAGE YOU to persevere in your mission to create that team with spirit and we want to ENCOURAGE YOU to give us a chance with some of our proven tools to actually help make that SPIRIT stick. Ladies and Gentlemen, our problems are NOT impossible to solve. Together, all of us, CAN find those solutions!
